Back in July of 2006, I got a new laptop with a significant amount of RAM (2GB). Though I am a true believer in ThinkPads due to their stability and lack of quirky problems, I was a little disappointed in the fact that I couldn’t use windows hibernate.
I originally chalked this up to some ThinkPad issue, and even asked Lenovo support about it once. They said something along the lines of ‘yea, everyone has that problem… sorry’. This was a little discouraging.
Diagnosis

Go download the fix for windows from Microsoft
Current Status (Updated)
Seems to be working well for about a year now.
